The Cultural Importance of Talpatar Haat Pakha in Bengali Rituals and Festivals

Significance of the Haat Pakha in Bengali Wedding Rituals

Tal Patar Haat Pakha as mentioned earlier is made of palm leaves. Palm leaves symbolize positivity. Regional people believe that palm leaves protect us from evil or negative energies around us. Thus, the Tal Patar Haat Pakha is used to fan the bride & groom throughout their wedding rituals (especially the saptapadi ritual), as it protects the bride & groom from evil energies & also cools them throughout the rituals. The Haat Pakhas can also be used as decorative for the wedding.
